At noon today (Friday, 20 October), we reached the official Close of Entries for the 2023 Fours Head. 475 entries have been accepted.
This means that:
- No more crews will be accepted off the waiting lists.
- Crews that have not been accepted will be marked as Rejected in BROE2 and refunded later today.
- Any substitution of rowers from now on is subject to the 50% rule. Coxes can be subbed without restriction. Instructions for what to do if you want to make more than 50% subs or can’t access BROE on race day can be found at the bottom of our Entries page.
- Crews that had been Accepted and scratch from now on will not be refunded.
Next steps:
- We will prepare and check the provisional Start Order. We expect to publish this on Sunday evening (22 October). This will be announced here, on our socials and by email to crew contacts from within BROE.
Note that a very small number of contact email addresses are not working for us, so please do check here on the website too. - Also on Sunday, we will publish updated boating location lists (by visiting club and by location) for visiting crews and host clubs.
Note that we will be distributing numbers a week before the race to the host clubs where we believe you will be boating. Therefore plese do NOT attempt to boat from somewhere else (note that most host clubs are now FULL too). Contact entries@fourshead.org for any issues regarding your boating location. Simply changing your preferred boating location in BROE is not enough. - Visiting clubs who have not yet made contact their host clubs regarding payment and arrangments are reminded to do so promptly.
An exception to this is clubs boating from Civil Service at Duke’s Meadows – payment will be taken on the day in exchange for your numbers, so there is no need to contact them about payment in advance.
We are sorry that around 100 crews who wanted to race will be unable to on the day, and are grateful to clubs who have understood that some crews will inevitably be disappointed. This year we used a CRI-based process to identify which 475 crews to accept from the 609 entries received. If clubs have suggestions on adjustments to this approach that are practical to administer, objective, and fair to clubs of all types (open clubs/schools/universities with adults and or juniors, and men and or women), please do contact us at entries@fourshead.org.
