Update

Race status: Thursday, 9pm

Following the sad announcement this evening of the cancellation of the Veteran Fours Head, the Fours Head Committee are continuing to carefully monitor the forecast conditions for Sunday. We are fortunate that the wind forecast is better than for Saturday but we are also concerned about the expected flow rate and the PLA Ebb Tide Flag status.

If the PLA Ebb Flag Status is red we will be unable to run the Fours Head, however, even a yellow flag when combined with other conditions may preclude us running a safe competition.

As of 9pm on Thursday, 2 November, the Fours Head Committee still intends to run our race as planned but will review the situation on Friday morning based on information at that time and may need to review again on Friday evening. We will provide an update after each checkpoint.

We are therefore asking all clubs / crews to revisit their risk assessment in light of the forecast conditions. If crews choose to scratch and we do run the race, those crews will be given a full refund. If the race is cancelled, all crews will be treated equally for refunds, based on the final costs incurred by the competition. In any case, refunds will not be made until after Sunday, 5 November.
