Fours Head 2024: Entries now CLOSED

At noon today (Friday, 8 November), we reached the official Close of Entries for the 2024 Fours Head. 465 entries have been accepted, from 127 different clubs.

We are very, very sorry that we couldn’t fit in the other 230 entries and 39 clubs from this year’s astonishing and humbling entry.

This means that:

  • No more crews can be accepted off the waiting lists.
  • Crews that have not been accepted will be marked as Rejected in BROE2 and refunded later today. The CRI-based process we used to select crews for Acceptance is set out on our Entries page.
  • Any substitution of rowers from now on is subject to the 50% rule. Coxes can be subbed without restriction. Instructions for what to do if you want to make more than 50% subs or can’t access BROE on race day can be found at the bottom of our Entries page.
  • Crews that had been Accepted and scratch from now on will not be refunded.

Next steps for us:

  • We will prepare and check the provisional Start Order. We expect to publish this on Sunday evening (10 November). This will be announced here, on our socials and by email to crew contacts from within BROE.
Note that a very small number of contact email addresses are not working for us, so please do check here on the website too.
  • Also on Sunday, we will publish updated boating location lists (by visiting club and by location) for visiting crews and host clubs.
Note that we will be distributing numbers a week before the race to the host clubs where we believe you will be boating. Therefore please do NOT just decide to boat from somewhere else, even if the alternative host says you can and you change the location in BROE (which I won’t notice). Contact entries@fourshead.org for any issues regarding your boating location.

Next steps for you:

  • Crews boating from their home club on the Tideway can skip this section.
  • Visiting clubs boating from Putney Embankment – please contact entries@fourshead.org with the name and phone number of your trailer driver and which club/s’ trailer they are driving, and whether that trailer is actually arriving the day before for the Veteran Fours Head.
  • Visiting clubs boating from Duke’s Meadows:
If you are a school club or Durham University, fees are per trailer – contact Emanuel School about how to remit these. See https://fourshead.org/crew-info/clubs/ for contact details.
If you are an open or other university club, payment will be taken on the day at Civil Service in exchange for your numbers, so there is no need to contact them about payment in advance. You will be able to pay by card.
  • All other visiting clubs who have not yet made contact their host club regarding payment (where payment is required) and arrangements should do so now.  Contact details are here https://fourshead.org/crew-info/clubs/

If you’re not sure where you’re boating from, check in BROE or wait for the start lists to be published on Sunday, which will be accompanied by boating location summaries.
