This year’s Fours Head will take place on Saturday, 15 November 2025, at the centre of the three-day ‘festival’ of fours racing that also includes the new Junior Fours Head on the Friday and the Veteran Fours Head on the Sunday.
We have made the following changes to our events and entry criteria for 2025 to reflect the welcome addition of the Junior Fours Head to the racing calendar as set out earlier this year, as well as minor refinements based on feedback and learnings.
- School/Junior events removed from the programme
- Crews of junior age may now enter the senior Championship, Club and Academic categories.
- All competitors must be J17 or older
- Crews containing rowers who have won a medal (Under 19 or Senior) at the World Rowing Beach Sprint Championships must now enter Championship
- No competitor, apart from those from outside England/Wales, will be accepted if they have a Personal Ranking Index (PRI) of 0 in both rowing and sculling for rowers, or coxing for coxes. The Fours Head is not an appropriate occasion for your first affiliated competition.
Update 19/10/25: Following review of entries received, this rul will be waived for 2025. However, clubs should ensure that all crews and competitors are capable of marshalling and racing the Championshp Course without compromising the safety of themselves or others.
Please visit our Entries page for full details of all entry criteria and key dates.
In the spirit of enabling the maximum number of crews and competitors to race, both we and the Organising Committee of the Junior Fours Head strongly encourage clubs to enter junior crews in the Junior Fours Head as their first choice, and not to enter both.
The launch of the Junior Fours Head in 2025 represents a significant change to the racing calendar with more capacity now available. We wait to see the impact on our entries but expect that the Fours Head’s high levels of oversubscription of recent years will be reduced. We will review the events we offer and our entry criteria after the 2025 races in the light of the entry profiles of both competitions.
The entry fee for 2025 will be £82 per crew. This increase covers some of the recent step change in the seat fee charged to us by British Rowing for using BROE2.
