Join the Fours Head Committee!

The Fours Head Committee is keen to take on one or two new general members with a view to succession planning for a number of roles and responsibilities.

As well as supporting in person on race day in November, the Committee, chaired by Richard Phelps, usually meets three times in the run up to the race, followed by a wash-up meeting afterwards and an AGM in March or April. The Committee meetings are almost always online.

You will need to be interested in organising a major rowing competition and able to take responsibility for delivering some of the activities required to make a large race happen. Most roles involve elements of liaising with suppliers for equipment and services and recruiting and coordinating volunteers, then overseeing on the day.

Specific qualifications and experience are not required, but any of the following would be relevant: being a British Rowing Umpire, experience of being on a competition organising committee, familiarity with racing and/or training on the Tideway.

You should be able to be present at the Tideway on race day (we are mostly based at Chiswick Pier House and in Putney), including when this is a very early start, but all other responsibilities can be carried out remotely.

These are volunteer roles and involve about 20 hours of work throughout the year + race day.

f you’re interested, please contact Kate Rennoldson at secretary@fourshead.org by 20 October 2025 with a little bit about your skills and experience in rowing and confirm if you are able to support on the day of this year’s race on Saturday 15 November.
