Update

Update: Friday, 8.00pm

The Fours Head Committee continue to carefully monitor the forecast for Sunday. As of 2000 on Friday, 3 November the Committee are still hopeful that the competition may go ahead on Sunday.

However, if it does go ahead, it will be with a reduced capacity. The Committee have determined which crews will be able to race based on the criteria set out on our website of crew CRI and some entries from local clubs together with the PLA advice regarding younger junior crews on yellow flag conditions.

That list will be published on our Start Order page this evening. Once published we will notify all clubs that it has been published and those crews who will be unable to race will be rejected on BROE. If the race goes ahead they will receive a full refund. Any crews who are on the list of crews to race who scratch before 1800 on Saturday, 4 November will also receive a full refund if the race goes ahead.

It goes without saying that we regret having to reduce the size of the event and the fact that some crews will, now, not be able to race, but safety is our primary concern and we believe this approach will provide the best opportunity for the majority of crews to race on Sunday. We hope all those impacted will understand this decision.

Please note that crew numbers, divisions and other marshalling instructions for those racing remain as published.

All clubs should note that there is still the strong possibility of a PLA Ebb Tide red flag between now and the race and such a red flag will mean cancellation of the Fours Head. In the event of cancellation of the competition all crews will be treated equally for refunds, based on the final costs incurred by the competition. In any case, refunds will not be made until after Sunday, 5 November.

The Committee is meeting again tomorrow morning, after the next PLA Ebb Tide flag update (which is reviewed twice daily at 0600 and 1800), and will publish a further update by 0900 on Saturday.

Given the considerable work that this will entail, the committee will not be able to enter into discussions about which crews have and have not been rejected except where a club wishes to exchange one of their crews for another of their own crews (as described on our Entries page, under Contingency for reducing number of entries).
