2023 Fours Head refunds

The Fours Head Committee met earlier this evening and is pleased to announce a refund of £60 per crew (75% of the entry fee paid).

When deciding the level of refund, the Committee had to strike a balance between being fair to competitors and our fiduciary responsibility to the event especially in light of the level of unrecoverable supplier costs incurred due to the late cancellation (only 24 hours before start time). In order to make this level of refund this year we have used some of our reserves. These have been built up gradually through prudent management of the event over many years. This provides the working capital needed to organise the race, and for cancellations such as this.

Clubs should be aware that it is unlikely that the same level of refund will be possible if there are consecutive or frequent cancellations in subsequent years. Those entering the Fours Head may have noted (Further Notes item 3 on the Entries page) that “Entry fees will not be refunded… if the event is cancelled” and this is the default position we may need to revert to in future years.

Refunds will be processed via BROE2 tomorrow evening (Wednesday, 8 November 2023). Refunds will be credited to the card on which they were paid.

We are particularly grateful to the crews who have proactively contacted us with the kind offer to waive any refunds. For clarity, all other crews whose entries were accepted will be treated equally for refunds as set out here.

Equally, we are grateful to those suppliers who did not, on news of the cancellation, charge the full amount for their services.

The Committee would like to thank everyone involved – competitors, coaches, host clubs, and other volunteers – for the huge amount of hard work they had put in to preparing for this year’s race. We hope to see you all again on Sunday (yes, Sunday again), 24 November 2024.
