Following major changes to our Entries Process for the 2023, race, we have made some further, minor adjustments for 2024 based on feedback and learnings.
Summary of changes
- We will use the higher of the crew’s RowingCRI or ScullingCRI, irrespective of the discipline entered, as the basis for acceptance for crews in the non-Championship events if the race is over-subscribed.
- The Fours Head reserves the right not to accept crews that are Masters C or older.
- The criteria for crews required to enter Championship events have been extended to include international PR3 rowers and rowers who have competed at the European Rowing Championships.
- Clubs entering more than one crew in any of the four categories Open Senior, Women’s Senior, Open Junior, or Women’s Junior should set out in the Notes field what rank each crew is within that category e.g. Men’s 1st crew, Men’s 2nd crew etc. This ranking is across all events within that category. NB We will not use the Crew Letter field as a basis for acceptance as what this shows is often confused by the order in which crews are entered.
- Substitutions made after the close of entries that change the event of a crew (e.g. from Championship-qualifying to non-qualifying or from academic to club) may result in the crew being moved to the appropriate position in the start order and the crew will no longer be eligible for any prize except the relevant Championship event.
- Substitutions made after the close of entries that materially change the CRI of a crew without changing the crew’s event, may result in the crew being moved to the appropriate position in the start order and it may be required to race for Time Only.

The full entries process for 2024 is set out on our Entries page. Please read this carefully before entering.
We appreciate that it is disappointing for crews who are not accepted when entries are oversubscribed. The volunteers who organise the Fours Head are grateful when this is received graciously. We are always interested in hearing practical, fair suggestions on how else to allocate limited race places.
