In view of the current circumstances relating to COVID-19 and the consequent need to reduce complexities in this year’s event, it is with regret that the Committee has decided that the 2020 Fours Head will not accept entries from overseas clubs. Therefore, this year, entries will be limited to crews from clubs affiliated with British Rowing, Scottish Rowing, Welsh Rowing or Rowing Ireland.
This decision was made for two reasons: first, the ongoing changes to the list of countries from which visitors to the UK are required to self-isolate or ‘quarantine’ for 14 days on arrival here; and second, the number of crews we can accommodate this year will be much lower than usual (we will confirm the exact number before entries open on 26 October but it’s likely to be under 250) because of social distancing requirements at host clubs and boating being limited to locations up river of Hammersmith Bridge. We are therefore prioritising UK and Irish crews, who have been unable to take part in affiliated competitions since March.
We are sorry for the disappointment this causes and look forward to being able to welcome overseas crews again in the future.
Please note that although the Committee hopes that the race will run as planned on Sunday, 22 November over a shortened course up-river of Hammersmith Bridge as previously announced, we will make a further announcement on this in the week beginning 19 October.
